Who We Are
Racer Construction was founded by Jim and Camille Racer in 2012, but their experience building in Rappahannock County goes back much further. Jim grew up in the county and spent years working residential construction here before he and Camille started Racer Construction.
Today, Racer Construction remains a family-owned company with an experienced team building and renovating homes throughout Rappahannock County and the surrounding area. Our connection this community is personal, and so are the relationships we build with the people we work with.
Jim and Camille founded Racer Construction in 2012 after years of working in residential construction in Rappahannock County. They remain closely involved in the company today, with Jim focused on construction and project oversight and Camille on the administrative and financial side of the business.
Our team includes experienced project leaders, carpenters, apprentices, and support staff who work directly on Racer Construction projects throughout the area. Maintaining our own field crews help us stay closely connected to the day-to-day work and maintain consistent standards across our projects.
What does working with us look like?
01.
Initial conversation
We start by learning about the project, the property, the client's goals, general scope, timing, and budget expectations. Based on the information available, we can usually help determine whether the overall project and budget appear to be reasonably aligned before moving further into the process.
02.
Site review & preconstruction
We review the site or existing conditions, plans, permitting needs, selections, and other factors that may affect the project. As the design develops, we continue evaluating scope and budget so major decisions can be addressed before construction begins.
03.
Planning the work
Once the project is moving forward, we work through the scope in greater detail, develop pricing, coordinate with subcontractors and vendors, establish scheduled, and work through the remaining decisions needed to prepare for construction.
